Retro Hound

The G1 Hound mold gets no love, apparently, from Hasbro or Takara. This release of the mold (the 2023 Transformers Retro release, redecoed in a cartoon-inspired deco) is the literal first time Hasbro has reissued G1 Hound since the original toy was discontinued after 1985.

It's also only the second time that Hound has even been reissued - the previous release was in 2004 as part of the Takara Transformers Collection line. Hasbro didn't even bother bringing him over for their concurrent Commemorative Series line.

Also fun fact - if you go by the Japanese release date for Hound (since Collection was a Japanese line), there were 19 years between Hound's release in Japan in 1985 and his 2004 reissue and there were 19 years between his 2004 reissue and this 2023 release. Looking forward to his third reissue in 2042!

Yeah I know the thoughts for this toy are more 'thoughts about how they like never reissue this guy' than anything else, but I mean I mostly bought him because of the whole 'this is literally the first time Hound has been reissued by Hasbro' thing. It's G1 Hound, he doesn't do much - he can't even point his gun forward, y'know?
