Masterforce God Ginrai
The lad himself - God Ginrai! If you're wondering why there's no pics of the standalone Ginrai robot, Super Ginai, the trailer with all the weapons attached, or the trailer in its base mode, there's a simple answer to that: I forgot to take pics of the regular Ginrai robot mode and I actually broke one of his twin cannons so I still need to grab a replacement for it)
Anyways! This is the 2001 reissue of God Ginrai that I got complete in box on eBay for something like $120 back in 2016-ish. He's pretty great, tbh, like yes he is one of the brickest bricks to ever brick in all of G1 but he just looks cool - especially all combined as God Ginrai, you don't even care if all he can really do is point his arms forward.
But, alas, I must mention the big issue this reissue suffers from: while it hasn't happen to every single copy, this reissue can be victim to Gold Plastic Syndrome - or specifically Blue Plastic Syndrome, as the blue plastic can become brittle and prone to breakage as the years go on. And it is only this version of the mold that suffers from GPS - the vintage 1988 Japanese original? Totally fine. The Hasbro Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex Armor reissue that used the God Ginrai mold as its basis? Totally fine.
From what I understand, if your reissue's blue plastic starts turning a very dark blue or a brownish blue, then that's a sign of the GPS.
Luckily for me, while I have had breakage (no, not the twin cannon I broke - for starters: that's grey plastic and secondly, I broke it by tryna use it with another figure and it was too tight of a 5mm port so the peg just sheared off) the only breakage mine has had was a piece breaking off inside the lower leg of the super mode so it's no longer physically attached to the super mode thigh but it still slides on and the friction is strong enough to keep it in space.
Honestly, I don't know if the breakage even was GPS or because the hinge bringing the super mode legs out to the side (for base mode) was just hella tight and it just broke because of that. Either way, gonna be careful when I mess with this toy though.
