Legacy BlackZarak
The big one. Titan Class, 21 inches tall in robot mode - Legacy BlackZarak.
What's there to say about BlackZarak, really? Not the largest Transformer ever, but this mold still one of the ten tallest (official) Transformers ever released. And until Legacy Nemesis was released, it was also the largest-ever Decepticon toy. Still is the largest beast mode, at least!
This toy, like all Titans, is just as much of a statement as it is an action figure. He didn't cost me much, his MSRP was $178.99 but I purchased him when Hasbro Pulse ran an absolutely batshit 40% off sale, so he was only $107.40 before tax and shipping and even after that - he was only $130.95.
$131 for this. And remember - he ain't just a nearly two foot tall robot. He can transform into a ginormous robot scorpion or a base and his head detaches and becomes a fully-fledged action figure of its own and then that figure's own head detaches and is a Headmaster compatible with the Titans Return Titanmaster gimmick? Oh hell to the yeah.
And and as y'all can see from the photos, despite his immense size, he is absolutely not a brick either. Okay, well he is a brick in base mode but that's to be expected. But his other modes though? Hoo boy.
In his robot mode, he's got a swivel at the neck, along with a panel that - depending on how you have it rotated - can be used to allow him to look down or up a little bit. He has ratchets in his shoulders for both forwards/backwards and out to the sides. He lacks bicep swivels but he has a ratcheted rotation joint at the elbow, along with a ratcheted elbow joint. He lacks any sort of wrist movement, but you can hinge his claws in at the wrist and the pincers themselves can open and close. He's got a waist swivel. Dual ratchets in the hips, just like the shoulders. Ratcheted thigh swivels. Because of his transformation, he has ratcheted double-hinge knees, so he can pretty much bend his knee all the way. Ankle tilts and, also because of transformation, the front of his feet can bend. That's right, this 21 inch tall action figure basically has a toe joint.
That was just the robot mode articulation, I haven't even talked about the other modes yet, but let's do that.
In scorpion mode he, understandably, has less articulation but it still exists. Since the pedipalps are just the robot mode arms, they have all the same articulation there. The scorpion legs are on multiple hinges - although where they connect to the body are two legs as one singular piece, although the 'knees' and then the 'feet' are separate. And the scorpion tail also has multiple hinges to pose. So, sure, less articulated than the robot but it's a giant goddamn robot scorpion.
And fuck it, while base mode obviously has no articulation to speak of - let's just talk about his Headmaster. Despite, y'know, literally just turning into a giant head for robot and scorpion mode, he's still got tons of articulation. A ball-joint at the neck, dual swivel shoulders, bicep swivels, double hinges at the elbow, a swivel at the waist, dual swivel hips, thigh swivels, knee joints, and ankle swivels.
Yes, so hilariously the one joint both the large robot mode and the smaller Headmaster lack is a wrist swivel.
An absolute fucking masterpiece of a toy, as far as I'm concerned.
