Beast Wars Neo Guiledart

Seriously he's got his legs splayed to the sides, his tongue is sticking out, you only see the whites of his eyes, and he has panels flipped down exposing the rib cage and bits of muscle. Guiledart from Beast Wars Neo! Uhh if you wanna know what the Hell Beast Wars Neo is, well I basically already explained the gist of things over on my Starscream & BB page the whole thing about how seasons 2 and 3 of Beast Wars weren't ready for dubbing so they made Beast Wars II to fill in the gap.

Well, Beast Wars Neo was the series that followed up from Beast Wars II (because seasons 2 and 3 still weren't ready for dubbing) and was a semi-sequel to BWII. I haven't actually seen Neo yet, so I've not idea about the actual story of the show.

As far as toys went, BWN was pretty much the exact opposite of BWII. BWII relied heavily on redecoes/retools of already existing molds, with only a couple of unique molds, whereas the BWN toyline relied heavily on entirely new molds, with a small number of retools, and only very few straight redecos.

Guiledart here is an example of an 'entirely new mold'. He's a Destron/Predacon and he turns into a triceratops and...that's all I know. Like I said, haven't seen the show yet.

And yes, that dead mode is 100% a real official mode of the toy. That was kind of a shared gimmick among a lot of the new mold Destrons, they had third modes where they were meant to look dead. I don't really get it.

Also infamously many of the new mold BWN toys are incredibly complex, often being major shellformers that rely on having all of the robot mode bits folded up just right in order for everything to lock together properly. Luckily Guiledart here isn't one of them, although his transformation is a bit complex it's not frustratingly so. He is very kibbly though (as you can see in the robot mode photos) so his own kibble does get in the way of his articulation a lot, though.

Btw, for some reason, Hasbro later redecoed Guiledart in purple and released him as Age of Extinction Slug in a two-pack with AOE Stinger (itself a repaint of Cyberverse Mirage (AKA Dino)) back in 2014. Not only was this fifteen years since the mold was first released, it was also ten years since the last use of the mold as Triceradon in 2004!

What the hell.
