Today is 25 June 2026 (in my time zone) and that means but one thing:
Today is my
birthday and I am now 30 years old!
It feels weird, to be honest. Like wow I'm 30 years old now? Entering my 4th decade on God's Earth?
But still, I'm doing stuff and surviving. Been on estrogen for over one year...loving our cats...trying to femme it up. (Alas I did not have time or the opportunity to go out femme today, which sucks).
As for what I did do today, honestly not muchh. It was a very understated birthday.
I went out for lunch at a Japanese restaurant today, well it was a Japanese restaurant + Asian fusion place. It had botth an All-You-Can-Eat option with a buffet and a traditional menu. We opted for the AYCE for $24.95 each (I went with my mum) which meant we had unlimited access to the buffet and also could order anything (minus the sushi) off of the AYCE menu.
For my first plate, I just had some lo mein (pretty mediocre) and crab rangoons from the buffet. Then I got my fucking takoyaki I ordered specifically of the AYCE menu and some shrimp-fried rice. After that I ordered some fried oysters off of the AYCE menu and went to the buffet and got some sushi and clams (no idea why I got the clams...yeah buffet clams totally trustworthy). Finally, I ordered a green tea mochi ice cream off the AYCE menu and my mum ordered a strawberry one, but she only ate half of hers so I ate the other half of it. Also my mum got some egg drop soup from the buffet but she didn't want it after she learned it was just eggs with no noodles so she gave that to me, but I forgot to take a photo of it.
Honestly speaking, it was pretty alright (although I think outside of the crab rangoons I think I preferred everything off of the AYCE menu itself and not the buffet) but I am thinking next time I might order something from the regular menu? They got ramen and I'd actually love to try it to see how it tastes. I've had proper ramen at a restaurant only once before and I've been wanting to have it again one day. It just hits so much better than the instant stuff, the instant stuff is comfort food, proper ramen is one of the best dishes there is.
As for what else I did on my birthday, well my mum wasn't feeling too good because of her chemotherapy pills so all I could really do was go to Walmart (wanted to go to Target + a card/hobby shop near Target) and, well Walmart didn't really have much I wanted so I just ended up grabbing some Yu-Gi-Oh! cards because I like YGO.
I know, obviously, that YGO is probably the worst TCG to buy if you want to make money but, uhh, I mean I don't want to make money of my cards? I just like collecting them, which is why I buy the sets focused on just being all rares/holos for my personal collection. If I wanna actually build a real proper deck for playing the game (let's pretend that I learn how to drive one day so I can actually go to a store and play the game with others one day), obviously I'll just buy singles (but if I do end up pulling cards I would want to use in my deck out of a pack...hey, I mean I did pull a Lovely Labrynth out of some packs a few weeks ago).
Other than that, I was going to spend my ~$31 on Amazon credit on something, but I didn't know what to buy and I also have a gift card from Christmas with $75 on it but...yeah I didn't know what to buy, so in the end the only other thing I bought for my birthday besides these Yu-Gi-Oh! cards was Assassin's Creed Shadows for my Switch 2 because I've been eying that game and it's on sale right now.
Anyways, here's my birthday cake!
It was really good.
As for what I'm doing now as I'm writing this post, I'm just watching the Red Sox play the Yankees and GO RED SOX FUCK THE YANKEES YANKEES SUCK KICK THEIR ASSES. I'll definitely be opening up my YGO cards after the game is over.
