Morris
27 January 2026

Morris is one of our cats and he one of our two orange boys, we have many cats. Probably too many. I am not ashamed to admit this but we make sure they're all well-fed, have water, and give them love and care that they deserve.

One of our other cats is named Tigger. He's been a character, to put it gently. He loves to wander around the house and meow. He isn't very much of a cuddler (he doesn't get aggressive when you hold him, he's just not a cuddler) but well that was his thing.

But recently Tigger has been getting more aggressive with the other boys. And last night, he attacked and actually injured Morris.

Like I said, this is a very recent thing - within the past week or so. Tigger has suddenly started getting aggressive towards another cat we have named Paddington, scaring him like Hell. Even in instances where he isn't being aggressive, Paddington still was freaking out.

But last night he got aggressive and started chasing Morris and they were fighting underneath a chair in my den. We separated them and my sister put Tigger outside for the night (all of our cats are indoor/outdoor cats and really in this cold ass weather - I live in Western New York - what our cats usually do when they go outside is shelter underneath the house for a bit).

Morris, the day after he got hurt. Behaving as a cat does, sniffing and exploring the dining room table.

After this though, I was giving Morris pets to calm him down and telling him it was okay and then I noticed blood on his tail and yeah, he got a wound on his tail from the fight. This has never happened before with any cat fights. Tigger hurt one of his family members.

We have a telehealth vet thing we get through Walmart+ and we contacted them about this and sent them photos of Morris's wound and they told us the antibiotic ointment to use on Morris. We have some but we are going to get more tomorrow (along with gauze and stuff)

But Tigger, Tigger Tigger Tigger. What are we to do with him? I do not blame him for this, he an unfixed boy it is is hormones and he views other boys (also unfixed) as competition right now. This is not his normal behavior.

We've discussed giving him up to a no-kill shelter because we don't want him to fight with another cat to the point of killing them. But the local shelter is currently full and not accepting new cats.

But what they are currently doing is offering spay/neuterings for $80 per cat. We cannot drop all of the money at once for all of our cats (well we could in theory but transporting them would be the bigger hurdle) so we are going to do one or two cats at first. I said we should do Tigger and Paddington first, they're the two horniest boys right now and hopefully this will curb Tigger's aggression. Morris should be next but I think we should wait for his wound to heal (he is also a dominant boy even with his wound). Then we should do the girls and the other boys, or the other way around. On the one hand - if you fix the girls first that means no more kittens but if we fix the boys first that means no future aggression.

Really it could go either way but I really hope that Tigger gets to stay once he is neutered and his aggression goes down, maybe he can even slowly become friends with Morris and Paddington again?
