Hello, hi and welcome to my website and the first journal post on my website!

I've been working on updating my site for a good while now - nearly seven months, in fact - but I feel it's reached a point where I'm ready to publish it for the world to see.

It was definitely hard work, especially because I was coming into this with virtually zero knowledge of how to do any of this shit, but you know what else it was? Satisfying as Hell seeing my site come together in a way I like.

I ain't gonna pretend I did every single thing on this site myself from scratch, I mean I have a Credits page for a reason, but that's in the spirit of the old web, is it not? Using templates, following tutorials, maybe copying something you saw on another person's site you think is cool, and just figuring shit out as you go.

Sometimes I've seen people express distaste for using templates or layout generators but, to me, it's like a denim jacket. Just like it doesn't matter that you didn't personally sew your own jacket before decorating it with various pins and patches, it doesn't matter if you use a template for making your website. A template is just a base - it's not the website itself, it's all not the customization or personalization you've done to make your site your own.

Hell, just take a look at this site. The layout I created with petrapixel's layout generator didn't make any of these pages or the shit I've written on them, nor did anything else I used to make my site. They're all just tools but the actual work itself is 100% my own personal creation.

Other than that, I guess I don't really have anything else to add to this post. Future posts will come whenever and be about whatever - thoughts and rambles on movies I've seen recently, real life updates, whatever. And they'll be as long or as short as I need them to be.
